Top Homemade Christmas Gift Ideas

homemade christmas giftSometimes, I just don’t have the money to buy elaborate Christmas gifts. Or, I want something unique and homemade to give as part of a gift.

I especially like doing this if I am giving a gift card or something else that’s impersonal. Homemade gifts are also good choices for teachers gifts.

These top homemade gift ideas always serve me well.

1. Homemade Chocolates

I love making homemade chocolates. Some years, I just stir coconut and almonds into melted chocolate. Other years, I actually bother to make truffles. This year I am making chocolates with crushed, candied peppermints sprinkled on top. No matter what I do it’s always a hit.

2. Vanilla Extract

I adore homemade vanilla extract. All you need to do is buy a 1 liter bottle of vodka and about three vanilla beans. Open the bottle, place the beans inside, cover it, and store it for about four weeks in a cool, dry place. The end result is a vanilla flavored vodka that you can use in baking and also sip.

3. Mason Jar Gifts

Another fun idea is to assemble baking mix for things like brownies and chocolate chip cookies and put it in a mason jar. Attach a little tag to the jar with instructions. Here’s a video with some ideas.

Feel free to use your creativity when coming up with gift ideas. The ones I listed here are very easy to do. You can also do something a little more elaborate, such as making ornaments or knitting a scarf. I find that edible gifts are the best.
